In 1974 he took part in the Berkshire Music Center courses in Tanglewood (USA), where he won the Koussewitzky Prize for composition. In 1976 he won first prize at the Gaudeamus competition in Holland for his Les soupirs de Genevi\u00e8ve for 11 solo strings. He studied with Fausto Zadra, (Scaramuzza\u2019s pupil) and 3 years with Pierre Sancan in Paris. He is a retired professor at the University of Geneva, where he has worked since 1981.
